The variety is a historical local heritage of the Matese massif and is not the result of modern breeding. Due to its limited distribution, it is included in the Regional Register of Fruit Varieties and is at risk of extinction.
The fruits are characterized by light-colored flesh, which darkens during the ripening process. Ripeness occurs in October. Historically, the variety has been used fresh, as well as for preservation and in confectionery production, in particular, for preparing candied additives for baked goods.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
