Variety description

The variety is a bud mutation of the Williams pear. The fruits have a short-pear shape and a weight of 180 to 250 g. Upon ripening, the skin turns a saturated dark burgundy or dark cherry color with longitudinal dark stripes. The flesh is white-creamy with a melting texture.

The tree is vigorous or medium-vigorous with a broad-pyramidal crown, entering fruiting in the 5th year. Harvesting falls in late August to early September. Winter hardiness of the variety is rated as medium or good. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, canning, and culinary processing.

The variety has limited storage life; in a refrigerator, the fruits maintain quality for up to a month. Agrotechnical requirements for cultivation are similar to the parent Williams variety, though plant sensitivity to fire blight infection is noted.
