The variety originates from the province of Siena and is preserved within the framework of programs for the protection of agrobiodiversity in the Tuscany region. It is not an industrial breeding variety, but rather a part of the local agricultural heritage.

In scientific literature, the variety has been described using molecular SSR markers and morphological characteristics alongside other local pears. Detailed agrotechnical data, including ripening dates and yield indicators, are absent in open publications.
