The San Pietro variety is a traditional local variety common in Italy. The tree is characterized by moderate vigor, high winter hardiness, and abundant fruiting, requiring thinning to control yield.
The fruits have a very early maturity group; in Italy, harvesting takes place at the end of June. The pears are small in size, with yellow-green skin and juicy, crisp flesh with a sweet-sour taste. Due to their delicate texture, the fruits are not suitable for long-term storage or transport; they are used fresh or for home processing.
