San Giuan represents a variety type of very early summer pears, widely distributed in Italy. The trees are distinguished by high productivity, and harvest dates fall in the second to third ten-day period of June or the beginning of July.
The small-sized fruits have a spheroidal or short-pyriform shape, smooth light-yellow skin with a blush. The flesh is sweet and juicy; however, the fruits are not suitable for storage and transport due to a tendency to soften quickly after harvest. Varieties of this type are sensitive to damage by pear psylla.
