The variety is a hybrid of Conference and Clapp's Favorite. It belongs to the autumn-winter table pears, the fruits of which possess a specific intense flavor with wine-like notes and a rum aroma.
The plant is often grown in the form of a standard or spindle-shaped tree about 250 cm tall. The fruits are used for fresh consumption and are also used in the production of premium fruit distillates.
Information regarding resistance to diseases such as rust and pear leaf blister mite is contradictory, varying from low to high degrees of susceptibility in different growing conditions.
