The variety «Velte» was obtained at the «Iedzēni» breeding station based on hybrid material (breeding number AMD-42-2-36). The tree forms a medium-sized crown; the branches have the property of bending under the weight of the crop, which contributes to the self-formation of the crown.
The fruits have a light yellow-green color with an orange tint on the sunny side. The flesh is characterized as very sweet and melting. The crop is harvested in mid-to-late September; the storage period for the fruits lasts until January.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness, as well as good resistance to scab and fruit rot.
