The variety is very old; mentions of it are found in the early Middle Ages. The medium-sized fruits have a green color and white granular sweet flesh. Harvesting begins from the end of August and continues until the middle of September, although in some cases the fruits can remain on the tree until December.
The tree is characterized by a compact shape and a late flowering period in May. The variety is not self-fertile. The main purpose is culinary use, in particular boiling and stewing; however, the fruits are also suitable for fresh consumption. The best taste qualities manifest after exposure to night frosts.
