Root maturity varies from mid-season (28–30 days) to late-season (40–50 days). Roots can be round in shape with a diameter of about 5 cm or elongated-cylindrical with a length of 10–14 cm and a weight of 50 to 300 g. The skin is bright red, while the flesh is white, juicy, and crisp.
The variety is characterized by resistance to bolting and pithiness, and has a keeping quality of up to 4 months. It is intended for cultivation in open field and protected cultivation. The name "Red Giant" is a collective trade name used by various seed companies for a group of cultivars.
