The variety belongs to the group of deciduous rhododendrons. The breeding work was aimed at creating winter-hardy plants capable of withstanding the climatic conditions characteristic of Latvia.
In scientific literature, the abbreviation INA often refers to the physiological process of ice nucleation activity, which should not be confused with the name of this variety.
