Variety description

The variety is an evergreen shrub characterized by vigorous growth. The plant has elliptical, obovate-shaped leaves with a leathery texture. Funnel-shaped flowers of a lilac-pink shade are gathered in inflorescences consisting of 13–17 flowers.

The primary economic purpose of the variety is to serve as a rootstock for grafting other rhododendron species, which allows them to adapt to alkaline soils. In scientific literature, the variety is also mentioned as a model object in studies of resistance to bacterial infections, in particular to gall formation.
