The variety was obtained by crossing Rhododendron fortunei and Rhododendron 'Cunningham's White'. At ten years of age, the shrub reaches a height of 125–150 cm and is characterized by a dense, compact growth habit with glossy leaves.
Flowering occurs in April-May; the flowers have a lilac-purple hue and emit a pleasant fragrance. The plant is characterized by high tolerance to calcareous soils with a pH range of 4 to 7.5 and frost resistance according to the RHS H7 scale.
