The variety is an evergreen, dense, compact shrub with a widely spreading crown shape. At 10 years of age, the plant reaches a height of about 1 m with a width of 1.3 m. Leaves are dark green, glossy; young shoots have pinkish-red bud scales.
Flowers with a diameter of up to 7.5 cm have a light yellow color on the inside and a salmon tint with an orange-yellow pattern on the outside; petals are slightly wavy. Inflorescences are dome-shaped. Flowering occurs in mid-May.
The plant requires acidic soils with a pH level of 4–5, good drainage, and a semi-shaded location. Frost resistance is limited to temperatures down to -20°C.
