Ribes nigrum L. Blackcurrant · Fruit crops

Variety description

10 August 2026

The bushes of the variety are powerful, reaching a height of 1.5 meters. Fructification occurs in late June or early July; the berries ripen simultaneously, but are prone to shedding when overripe. The taste of the berries is assessed as sweet and juicy; the fruits have a shiny surface and a black color.

The variety is demanding regarding soil and climatic conditions. Insufficient winter hardiness in severe winters is noted, as well as susceptibility to powdery mildew and anthracnose. Although the variety is considered self-fertile, cross-pollination may be beneficial for stable yields.

The harvested produce is suitable for fresh consumption and all types of processing, including the preparation of jams, jellies, juices, and sauces.
