Variety description

10 August 2026

Under the name «Jumbo», the modern trade features a blackberry of French breeding, the genetic origin of which is not precisely determined. There is also a historical North American variety with the same name, obtained on the basis of wild species.

The plant belongs to mid-season varieties; fruiting lasts from 5 to 7 weeks in July-August. The bush is semi-erect, the canes reach 2.5–3 meters in length and need support due to the large mass of the crop. The berries are black, firm, weighing from 6–9 to 30 grams.

The variety possesses resistance to the main blackberry diseases. Winter hardiness is estimated at an average level, down to -18°C, which is why winter covering is required in regions with a harsh climate.
