The variety was obtained by selection from seedlings of the Fillbasket variety. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and has numerous sturdy canes with a glaucous bloom and an abundance of spines. The fruits are large, dark red, juicy, with a pleasant sweet-sour taste. The variety belongs to the summer ripening category; the berries ripen ten days earlier than those of the parent variety.

In North American conditions, the variety exhibits insufficient winter hardiness. Previously, the variety was grown commercially, but today its main role is limited to genetic resource collections and phytopathological studies, where forms of Baumforth's Seedling are used for the diagnosis of Raspberry leaf curl virus.
