The variety is a female seedling of Salix babylonica (synonym Salix matsudana). It is a fast-growing clone intended for intensive cultivation for energy biomass production.

The plant possesses partial resistance to moisture deficit. In experiments studying the effect of heavy metals, the clone's sensitivity to high levels of zinc stress was noted, causing growth inhibition.
