The Rapp variety (sometimes SW Rapp) was developed within the framework of the Swedish breeding program for creating energy crops. The plant is a fast-growing form of willow capable of forming an extensive root system.
Compared to later industrial varieties, this form shows a lower dry biomass yield. Biological features include susceptibility to leaf rust, which is why the variety is used to a limited extent in modern commercial plantings.
