The variety is a fast-growing male clone obtained by crossing Salix viminalis and Salix schwerinii. The plant is characterized by straight stems and lanceolate leaves with wavy, entire margins. The leaves may be slightly twisted at the shoot tips. The variety shows a tendency for intense branching.
The plant is high-yielding and adapted for use in short-rotation plantations, where its productivity depends on precipitation levels. The variety has good resistance to leaf rust and is often planted in mixed clonal stands alongside other industrial willow varieties.
