The variety belongs to the broad-leaved willow category and is used in mixed plantations to ensure genetic diversity. The plant possesses resistance to leaf rust and a number of insect pests, however, its shoots may be damaged by wild animals.
It is a male variety and a valuable source of pollen and nectar, producing over 400 catkins per bush at the age of 2–3 years. For scientific purposes, the variety is used to study interactions with mycorrhizal fungi and for the phytoremediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals and chemical substances.
