The variety is a hybrid obtained from crossing Discovery and Quest lines, whose pedigree includes S. schwerinii and S. viminalis. The plant is of the shrub type and is characterized by a high growth rate.
The variety is intended for cultivation as bioenergy feedstock. It has undergone many years of trials in the United Kingdom and Ireland, which confirmed its effectiveness for use in short-rotation forestry systems.
