The 'Balsalmisp' variety is the result of breeding the 'Indigo Spires' variety and is a dense, upright bush 45 to 60 cm tall, although it may reach 1.5 m in certain climatic conditions. The leaves are dark green, smaller than those of the parent species. The flowers are violet-blue in hue and gathered in narrow spikes.

The plant has high resistance to heat, drought, and pests, but does not tolerate waterlogging of the soil in the winter period. Due to short internodes, the bush holds its shape well and does not require staking. The variety is intended exclusively for decorative purposes, including planting in flower beds and containers, and is not a medicinal crop.
