Variety description

The variety is a vigorous deciduous shrub with vertically directed stems, reaching 3–4 meters in height with a crown width of about 0.8–1.2 meters. The foliage is dark green, turning a yellow hue in autumn. The plant consists of 5–7 serrated leaflets.

Flowering occurs in May–June with white flowers gathered in corymbose inflorescences. Edible dark purple, almost black berries ripen in August. For improved fruit set, cross-pollination with other Sambucus varieties is recommended.

The plant is frost-hardy (zones 5–8) and tolerant to various soil types, preferring fertile and moist ones. It requires a sunny or slightly shaded location. To maintain the shape, it is recommended to perform sanitary or formative pruning in late winter or early spring.
