The variety is a deciduous shrub with a semi-upright growth habit of medium density. The main ornamental feature is the blue-green leaves with a creamy-white or golden margin, which changes shade throughout the season. The plant reaches 1.8–2.4 meters in height and width.
Flowering occurs in late spring or early summer with white flowers gathered in inflorescences, followed by the formation of purple-black berries. The presence of other Sambucus nigra varieties as pollinators is necessary for fruiting. The variety is winter hardy, drought tolerant, and resistant to various soil types.
The plant is used in landscape design as a specimen, for hedges, or container cultivation. Maintenance includes spring pruning to maintain shape and the removal of shoots that have lost their variegated coloring. The variety is not recommended for cultivation in regions with hot climates.
