The plant is a succulent perennial 15–30 cm in height and up to 46 cm in width. The leaves are elliptical, fleshy, with a finely serrated margin. In the sun, the foliage turns dark purple with a bright pink margin; in the shade, it becomes blue-green with a cream or pink margin.

Flowering occurs from July to October; the flowers are star-shaped, bright pink or crimson in hue, and gathered in corymbose inflorescences. The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases and stem lodging. The plant is frost-hardy (USDA zone 4) and drought-tolerant, requiring well-drained soil.
