The UMH 1203 line was created through the introgression of resistance genes (Tm-2a, Sw-5, Ty-1) into the traditional Spanish variety «De la Pera». The primary purpose of the variety is to obtain yields in areas with high viral pressure, where standard varieties fail.

The fruits have a mass of 70–100 g, and their organoleptic properties correspond to the original «De la Pera» variety. When grown under conditions of low viral pressure, the yield of the line may be 40–50% lower than traditional varieties due to the genetic linkage effect.
