The variety has oval to elongated tubers with very shallow eyes, white skin, and cream flesh. It belongs to culinary type A with a moderate dry matter content of about 18%.
The variety is characterized by low resistance to late blight of both foliage and tubers. In international practice, different genotypes may appear under the name Alex, including varieties of Scottish and Dutch breeding.
