The variety has elongated-oval tubers with shallow eyes. The plant has an upright or semi-upright habit. There is a mutant form with red skin, known as Rode Eersteling or Red Duke of York.
In terms of culinary properties, the variety belongs to the waxy type, although it may become slightly mealy if overcooked. The variety is not suitable for long-term storage, as tuber quality deteriorates rapidly. It is susceptible to late blight and a number of other diseases.
