The variety was obtained using the wild potato species Solanum spegazzinii and Solanum stoloniferum. Due to the presence of cytoplasmic male sterility, the plant is primarily used in crosses as a maternal form.
The variety possesses genetically confirmed resistance to potato virus Y (PVY) due to the Rysto gene marker, and is also resistant to certain pathotypes of the potato cyst nematode (Ro1, 5).
The variety is considered an important breeding resource for improving the qualities of table potatoes. Wide agricultural use as a commercial variety has not been recorded; in some registries, it is marked as delisted.
