Coniferous evergreen tree with a narrowly pyramidal or conical crown shape. The height of mature plants is usually 3.5–5 meters, reaching 10–15 meters under favorable conditions. Needles are scale-like, light green, and retain their color in winter. The bark is reddish or grayish-brown, exfoliating in narrow strips.

The variety is characterized by rapid growth with an annual increase of up to 30 cm in height and up to 10 cm in width. It features high winter hardiness (USDA zone 3, down to -40 °C). The plant is undemanding, well-tolerant of urban conditions, shading, and soil moisture fluctuations. With regular pruning, it forms a dense hedge.
