The plant has a globose shape, which can become haystack-shaped at an advanced age, increasing to 2–2.5 m. The annual growth is about 5 cm. The needle color changes from light green in spring to green in summer and grayish-green or brownish in the winter period.

The variety is winter hardy, requires regular watering, and tolerates pruning well. Adult specimens are prone to losing compactness, which requires corrective pruning. In landscape design, it is used for creating alpine slides, rock gardens, borders, low hedges, and cultivation in containers.
