The Leisi variety belongs to the «Mattenklee» type, which is characterized by longevity and persistence. The plant is diploid; stem height is approximately 69.6 cm.

In breeding practice, the variety is known as one of the four basic Swiss varieties used as source genetic material for the creation of other breeding forms. In resistance trials against anthracnose, the variety demonstrated an intermediate level of resistance to the disease.
