The variety Hallandshvede (also known as Hallandsvete) is a landrace that, under modern conditions, is used primarily in biodiversity conservation projects and in organic farming.
The plant belongs to the spring wheat group. It is valued for its high-quality baking properties, providing tasty bread with good dough rise. The variety is characterized by a high gluten content with a rather soft structure, which differs in hardness from other Swedish landraces, for example, Ölandshvede.
