The variety is a local landrace known since the late 17th century, the result of centuries of folk selection. The plant is distinguished by its great height, reaching 180 cm, which allows it to effectively suppress weeds. The ear is characterized as awnless and quadrangular.

The grain has a white color with a reddish tint. The variety possesses relative resistance to leaf rust, root rot, and smut, while requiring the application of a small amount of nitrogen fertilizers. Compared to modern varieties, it is characterized by lower productivity.

Flour from this variety is valued for its white color, fine texture, and characteristic aroma. It is used for making bread, pizza, focaccia, and cookies. The grain contains a moderate amount of protein and has a lower glycemic index compared to some modern varieties.
