The winter soft wheat variety SAKTA was bred in Latvia with the participation of specialists from the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics and the State Stende Breeding Station. The crop passed state variety trials and was included in the local variety catalog for use in regional breeding programs.
During agronomic research, the variety demonstrated a medium level of winter hardiness when grown under organic farming conditions. In field trials, the wheat showed stable productivity indicators characteristic of winter varieties of its breeding period.
