The Monarca variety possesses pronounced antioxidant properties and contains a significant amount of phenolic acids. Like other representatives of the Triticum monococcum species, it belongs to hulled cereal crops that require the removal of glumes during the preparation process for use.

The variety has been used in experimental laboratory studies to analyze and compare biochemical parameters with other wheat species.
