The Goliat variety is used in crop rotations, in particular, as a cover crop when growing maize under irrigation. The plant is valued for its ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen.

The variety is an artificial tetraploid. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as plant height or maturity dates, are limitedly presented in open scientific publications.
