The Minikowska variety is a winter form of hairy vetch. It is characterized by high regenerative capacity and an intensive growth process during the spring-summer period.

In scientific literature, the variety is used as a standard for conducting cytogenetic research due to its established genome size parameters, which are 3.32 pg/2C. The variety is also an object of study for the carbohydrate composition of seeds, including raffinose family oligosaccharides and D-pinitol galactosides.
