The variety is intended for cultivation as a winter forage crop. In classification documents, the variety is sometimes distinguished as Vicia villosa Roth ssp. pseudovillosa. Green mass yield was studied in the region of origin, and it is recommended to use seeds harvested at the wax or full maturity stage for sowing purposes.
The plant possesses the species characteristics of hairy vetch: it is an annual or winter crop with thin, densely pubescent stems prone to lodging. Leaves are paripinnate with tendrils; flowers are bright purple or mauve-blue, arranged in racemes. The variety exhibits shade tolerance and adapts well to sandy loam soils.
