The variety has medium-vigor vines prone to side-shoot formation. Leaves are medium-sized, round or slightly elongated, 3- or 5-lobed, shallowly lobed, blistered, with slight cobweb-like pubescence on the underside. The flower is hermaphroditic.
Clusters are large, cylindrical-conical in shape, and very dense. Berries are large, round with a blunt end, dark red-purple in color, with thick skin and fleshy-juicy pulp. The variety is not frost-hardy and requires cluster thinning for quality control.
Used primarily for the production of light red wines with fruity aromas, which are consumed young. In a number of countries and in greenhouse cultivation, it is also used as a table grape.
