The variety has vigorous vines and is characterized by low fertility under short pruning. The plant is highly susceptible to major fungal diseases, including Botrytis cinerea, downy mildew, powdery mildew, and anthracnose.

Wines from this variety possess a neutral taste. Claverie should not be confused with the hybrid variety Claverie Coulard. Known synonyms for the variety include Chalosse Blanche, Claverie Blanc, Galia Xuria, and others.
