The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and has been historically cultivated in the Balearic Islands. It is a late-ripening variety with large berries that demonstrates resistance to drought and downy mildew, but is susceptible to grey mold.
The purpose of the variety is exclusively for winemaking. Wines produced from it possess soft tannins, mineral shades, and aromas of red fruits; the grape skin also contains a high level of phenolic compounds.
