The variety is a complex interspecific hybrid, the genetic structure of which consists of 97% Vitis vinifera, with the remainder including genes from Vitis arizonica and Vitis rupestris. The parentage includes the varieties Sylvaner, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, and Chardonnay.

The plant belongs to a medium maturity group, has black, large berries, and loose bunches. The variety is characterized by high yield and significant resistance to Pierce's disease. The mature vine reaches 1.8–2.4 meters in height.

The purpose of the variety is exclusively for winemaking. The resulting wine is distinguished by its dark red color, tannin content, balance, and a complex flavor profile with notes of plum, black cherry, earth, and herbs.
