Wine grape variety of the species Vitis vinifera, a hybrid of Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. The name of the variety comes from the Basque language and means "month of the sun."

The variety has hermaphroditic flowers and is characterized by fairly low yield. The berries are dark-colored, significantly larger than those of the Marselan or Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. The variety possesses resistance to diseases.

Wines from the Ekigaina variety are distinguished by good structure and polished tannins. Upon ripening, the variety can demonstrate lower sugar accumulation rates and higher titratable acidity compared to other varieties.
