Variety description

The variety is the result of a natural cross between Rouge du Pays and an unknown variety; it is genetically identical to Cornalin d’Aoste and is not related to Humagne blanche. The vines have strong growth vigor, and young shoots are heavily pubescent. The leaves are dark green, wedge-shaped, and three- or five-lobed. The clusters and berries are of medium size, the latter being round or slightly oval in shape.

The variety ripens approximately three weeks later than the Chasselas variety and is characterized by high susceptibility to grey mold. The purpose is exclusively for wine production. The wines are distinguished by a ruby color, good acidity, and tannin structure. The aroma is dominated by notes of berries, spices, and herbaceous undertones, which are complemented by notes of leather and tobacco upon aging.
