The variety name means "far from the eye" due to a morphological feature: long peduncles position the bunches at a significant distance from the bud. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and reliable yield. In traditional training systems, the vine is grown without tying, which creates natural shading for the bunches.

The variety is susceptible to mites and Botrytis, however, its sensitivity to grey rot allows it to be used for the production of sweet wines with "noble rot." The grapes have moderate acidity, and the wine aromatics are dominated by notes of apple, pear, quince, flowers, and citrus. The variety is used both in varietal wines and in blends.
