The variety is native to the border regions of Switzerland and Italy. Leaves are round, slightly lobed, five-lobed, with almost no pubescence. The hermaphroditic flower forms small or medium cylindrical bunches of tight or medium density. Berries are oval, greenish-white in color with a waxy bloom, juicy pulp, and medium-thick skin.

The plant has moderate vigor and matures in medium to medium-late terms. The variety is not resistant to frost and fungal diseases, especially gray mold, and its yield is characterized as unstable and relatively low. Historically adapted to cultivation in mountain conditions on terraces.

Wine from this variety is distinguished by high acidity, mineral character, and aromas of green apples, gooseberries, and citrus. It is a key component of the traditional Vin des glaciers wine, which is aged according to a system similar to solera, which imparts notes of honey, nuts, and spices to the finished beverage.
