The variety was obtained in 1982 by crossing the parent forms FR 964-60 and Faberrebe. It belongs to wine grape varieties and is classified as PIWI, which indicates the presence of increased resistance to fungal diseases, in particular downy mildew (Peronospora).

This grape was developed as part of the concept of environmentally sustainable viticulture aimed at reducing the use of pesticides. The variety is included in the official lists of grape varieties permitted for cultivation.
