The variety was bred in the Czech Republic by crossing Merzling and a combination of Seyve-Villard 12-375 with Pinot Gris. The genotype contains genes of Vitis berlandieri, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris, and Vitis vinifera. The growth habit of the vine ranges from medium to vigorous; the variety is suitable for cultivation on slopes and various soil types, including loams and sandy loams.

The clusters have a long shape and are medium to large in size. The berries are small, spherical, and acquire a golden hue upon full ripening. The variety shows good resistance to Botrytis cinerea and Oidium, as well as moderate resistance to Plasmopara viticola.

Rinot belongs to wine grape varieties. Wines made from it possess vibrant acidity, aging potential, and aromatic notes of melon, quince, and apricot with herbal tones, which allows it to be used, among other things, for the production of sparkling wines.
