The variety is of French origin from the region between Nîmes and Montpellier. Genetically related to the Cinsaut variety. Berries and bunches are large, the skin has a green-yellow color.

The plant has moderate vigor and requires short pruning. In terms of disease resistance, the variety is similar to the base variety Rivairenc, showing susceptibility to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold.

The purpose of the variety is winemaking. The production is characterized as light, neutral wines with a low potential for sugar accumulation. The variety is grown in small volumes and is sometimes used in modern blends.
